Social Strategy - Whats your plan?

Social Strategy - Whats your plan?

Summer 2022

Summer doesn't mean a break from social networking. You can build a strong social media presence with a summertime digital media strategy by creating a marketing planning calendar that follows social media trends, creates strong marketing plans, and builds a strong social media presence! Although summer is here, you still need to generate buzz, measure your metrics, and increase your growth across all channels.

It's time to tidy up your pages and profiles, fill your calendar with posts, and interact with your users regularly. Keep track of how many followers you have and check your insights after one month.

Idea: Make your top revenue generator the focus of paid ads over the next 6 weeks so you have double the visibility!

To Do: Choose which 2 platforms are you going to focus on and google all the updates and trends for 2022! Is it LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, TikTok, Twitter or Pinterest?

Top Tips: The recommended maximum posting for each social media channel is as follows:

  • 1-2 times per day on Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Fact: Facebook videos get 135% more organic reach than images.
  • Add in 1 LinkedIn article or blog post per month as a minimum too!
  • 1 time per day on Instagram, and up to 10 Stories per day
  • The latest Instagram statistics - The audience is 51% female and mostly aged between 18 to 34 years old. Over 70% of teenagers use Instagram which is why the “Higher Education” category has the best engagement rate.
  • 5+ times per day on Twitter (think of this platform as your school district's newsroom
  • Last year, the most used social media network worldwide was Facebook followed by YouTube which both have over 2 billion monthly active users. That’s a third of the world’s population.?LinkedIn, however, is seriously catching up and has an exceptional domain authority on Google!
  • Use Micro-Influencers! They've done all the hard work for you!

Find your local Micro-influencers, with 10k-50k followers, are becoming an increasingly popular alternative to celebrities as user-generated content achieves a 4.5% higher conversion rate. Influencers are small businesses too, so who can you support this summer?

  • This is probably the most significant reason that most influencers gain that status. They know their audience well and create the perfect content to interest their followers. As a brand, you need to do the same.

Get Started: Your first point of call is to evaluate what your goals are: what do you want to get out of social media? Each of your social media strategy goals should be SMART and align with your overall marketing objectives.

  • Customers: Who is your ideal customer and where do they hang out? Define your target audience!
  • Goals: Once you’ve established your goals, it’s time to look into your audience. Creating buyer personas will enable you to know exactly who your audience is and what they want to see. That way you can create content that they will engage with. This is essential if you want to turn social media followers into customers for your business.
  • Increase brand awareness: This means getting your name out there. To create authentic and lasting brand awareness, avoid solely publishing promotional messages. Instead, focus on content that emphasises your personality and values first.
  • Generate leads and sales: Whether online, in-store or directly through your social profiles, followers don’t make purchases by accident.?For example, are you about alerting customers about new products and promos? Are you integrating your product catalogue into your social profiles? Are you running exclusive deals for followers?

Grow your brand’s audience. Bringing new followers into the fold means finding ways to introduce your brand to folks who haven’t heard of you before.

  • Research your competitors:
  • What content do they share?
  • How often do they post?
  • What times or days do they post?
  • How often do they engage with others?
  • What industry hashtags do they use?

Get a head start and delve into what your competitors are doing on social media. Chances are they’re already on there, so have a good look and take tips and ideas from what they’re doing.

Then look @ What does the future of your business look like? What do you want to accomplish over the longer term?

Here are some ways you can implement a successful social media marketing strategy over the summer.

  1. Clean up your Social Channels - Photos - About me - Success stories!

2. Start storytelling - Starting with your vision - why you went into business in the first place, and what form your company takes to share that mission with the world.

3. Plan your 42 posts ASAP - Schedule 30 - But go live and surprise the algorithm every now and then!

4. Don’t be afraid to re-use old content - Repurposing content can lead to a 62 percent increase in engagement — meaning content you’ve already created and shared on social media (or on other channels) can actually help increase engagement.?

5. Summer Sales - What can you put on sale? Or a special offer?

6. Build your community! Highlight different businesses over the summer. Create stories around all your favourite places, tag the business and feature local businesses.

7. National days are a must! Sit and create 12 social media graphics for your favourite days.

  • July 24th - Self Care Day
  • July 27th - National sleepy head day
  • July 29th - National Red Lipstick Day
  • 9th August: Book Lovers Day

8. Build your community! Highlight different businesses over the summer. Create stories around all your favourite patios, tag the business and feature local businesses.

9. Use summer-focused hashtags. This will also help identify trends in your industry.

10. Support a charity

11. Review - Reviewing your sustainability and climate change are becoming big influencers in making purchase decisions, impacting social commerce.

12. The 80/20 rule

  • 80% of your posts should inform, educate, or entertain your audience
  • 20% can directly promote your brand.
  • The content you create should first and foremost be high quality, engaging and relevant to your audience. Quality content will keep your audience informed and interested, which means they’re more likely to engage with your posts.

A few examples of content you could create are:

Videos - Videos are dominating the digital landscape right now, so if you're not using them, you're missing out!?

Images - pictures of the workplace, product images, and pictures from company events. All of these contribute to humanizing your brand. Follow the platform's size specifications when using high-quality images.

Company news - post exciting news, such as a new job position or an employee addition, on social media. Make it your own, but make sure to personalise it!

Blog posts - Use social media to share the content from your company blog. Your audience can be further expanded by using employee amplification.

Free resources - who doesn't like free things? A free resource, whether it's an e-book or an infographic, will be appreciated by your audience.
