Social Selling Index Growth
Making connections and increasing your network is something that I have always valued because I know how important it can be in the future. You never know if someone whom you connected with will be the next top CEO of a company and you may want a future opportunity with them. Before going into this class I had already been on LinkedIn for a few years because I was told to make one while in High School. But I never understood the importance of it until this year.
It was not until this semester where I learned about the Social Selling Index which evaluates the strength of your profile and where you stand in your industry. I was surprised to see that my score was only 28 out of 100 because I had been on LinkedIn for so long. I knew I would have to work towards increasing my score to stand a better chance when talking with employers. It is important to utilize all the different categories that LinkedIn has to offer when it comes to showing your score so you can maximize outreach to potential employers.?
Before this semester I often would connect with anyone and everyone that I saw pop up on my recommended or invitations list. This can be good because it increases your connections which increases your chance to get a job, or so I thought. Through taking the course with Professor Boyer I learned how to better make connections that you can effectively utilize within your network. While having a large selection of people to have connections with, having strong connections is more important. One person with 10 strong connections is more valuable than having a bunch of connections with people you have no clue who they are.?
I was able to increase my social sales index to 40 out of 100 which is an improvement from when I started out this semester. I am more proud of the fact that I went from top 42% for my network Social Selling index to top 20% by the end of the semester. By applying what I learned in class I was able to improve some of my scores. I encourage everyone to check out your SSI to see where you can improve your weaknesses!?
