Social Posting Is Not Marketing

Social Posting Is Not Marketing

Hello family,

Its been a while so I wanted to share something I see novices do and

I got onto one of my tech communities about 2 months ago, had fun purchasing some products there and connecting with the community, but I also got disappointed. This is not a community that talks to the audience anymore, it talks to itself.

People vote up products cause they want you to come back and vote later for them.

Then I was on X (Twitter) for a while caught up reading posts and journals on Social media, digital marketing and AI. Who’s reading these posts? Other people who are doing the same.

This is a problem.

Your peers are not your audience. Who are you creating content for?

If you are using social media marketing, it should do these 3 things.

>Generate leads

> Nurture leads

> Convert leads

If you are not doing these then you are not marketing, you are posting. Comments and replies are vanity metrics. What matters are sales and conversions.

If you haven’t built up traction on social media or email or heck even YouTube yet then it’s likely that you have more friends and peers connected to you than your audience. That’s fine, but they are not your market.

Don’t create the content that they seek.

It’s hard to disconnect and start creating content that your audience is looking for, but that’s the only thing that will get you in front of them.

Create content that is relevant to the people who can buy from you. Nurture them and eventually turn them into customers.

Here are some ideas.

> Make a list of your buyer’s pain points. It’s okay if your product doesn’t address them all.

> Create a list of topics you intend to write on. Mostly, stick to those.

> Start watching news and trends that your audience could be interested in. Make that a part of your content plan.

> Stay away from peer validation. You don’t need it. They will distract you from your mission (get more customers).

Can you relate with this? What kind of content do you create? Hit reply and let me know.

If you are stuck in a place where you do not create any content, and that happens to a lot of us, change that.

Make a schedule. Chart out what you will post on each platform every week and stick to it. Everyone does a little better when they have a plan.

Remember, business success is about playing the long game.

And while I still have your attention. Do you do outreach marketing on social?

Outreach is when you send a personal message to your prospect, promoting your business or service.

If you are not getting replies, this needs to change.
