Eddie Woo Wins Well Deserved AUSTRALIA DAY award.
I was thrilled to see that Eddie Woo was recognised with an Australia Day Award. These are the people I love to see rewarded, the quiet achievers who make a difference to the lives of our precious youth.
Eddie Woo urged Australians to “truly value the need for education while stressing Australia Day should be a day of awareness and empathy.”
"I stand before you, not as an individual, but as a proud representative of every teacher around the country who labours day after day, year after year, because we know the power of giving a child the priceless gift of an education," he said.
"Every Australian must play our part in honouring our schools and those who work in them. Our children and future generations are dependent on it."
What a wonderful testimony for all of our hard-working teachers to whom we entrust our children for most of their childhood and adolescence!
Congratulations...We salute you Eddie Woo!!!
And yes indeed, giving each child the gift of education is priceless. Every child has the right to an inclusive education, how wonderful that Eddie has articulated this right so well and how wonderful that his efforts have been recognised, so often our great teachers work silently in the background. Now let's hope that government, decision makers and principals move beyond lip service and accolades and into implementation and genuine strategies. Let's hope they support the teachers with passion and vision.
It's time to collectively make this demand and voice the need for funding, support and training for our teachers.
