Social media loves stories and case studies will romance your followers into buying from you

Love is in the air and everyone is trying to sell you something by leveraging St. Valentine , the patron saint of love, beekeepers, the mentally ill and Hallmark cards (only the last one made up!).

Couple recount how they met and social media is full of tales, good and bad and depending on where your heart is, maybe stick to Instagram and Facebook and avoid Reddit at all costs if you are a romantic. TikTok's algorithm will deliver whatever the heart desires. Here on LinkedIn, you're pretty safe - excepting the lead generators that want to match make!

Wooing clients online is a year-round task for many and I want to show some love for the power of case studies and explain the headline.

Let me give you an example, one of our clients is Test Valley Kitchens and Bathrooms and our interviews with delighted customers reveal their journey in case studies. Indeed you can read them on their website.

When someone pops up on Facebook and asks for a recommendation for a bathroom or kitchen firm for a project you get a variety of comments:

  • Pick me!
  • Pick someone I know
  • A more wordy recommendation
  • A recommendation with a link to a case study.

Guess which one delivers an enquiry? It does more than that though. When the prospective clients reads the case study and looks at the stunning photographs, they become emotionally invested, especially if they go on to read more case studies. Best of all these clients telling their own stories are just like the folks who have clicked; people project themselves into that experience.

Another great aspect of case studies is the evergreen nature of client stories, they work all year around on your website, on social media and in host of other ways, depending on your business, and who doesn't want year long loving?
