Social Media info & inspo… November 2024
November has been nothing short of a whirlwind at Jwoo! Chris, Nadia, and I took a bite out of the Big Apple, jetting off to Broadway for two fabulous creator nights - one for Elf the Musical and the other for the magical Harry Potter Shop. Along the way, we had the chance to meet some of our incredible Broadway counterparts.
But that’s not all! We also announced four exciting new shows (more on those soon!) + I hopped onto the Eurostar to attend the steamy Dirty Dancing on Stage opening night in Paris, all thanks to the amazing team at Kindred. Nobody puts Jwoo in a corner!
Here’s to another month of magic, musicals, and making it happen!
SOCIAL MEDIA NEWS
Here’s a snapshot of what happened in social media news this month.
X’s loss is Blue Sky’s gain. The platform has?ballooned to 22 million users, with 5 million having flocked to it since the US election. The jury’s still out though: Bluesky is still dwarfed by its predecessor, and there are concerns it may simply be an echo chamber for liberals.
Threads is feeling the heat, with its head honchos trumpeting some?slightly sketchy growth figures?and admitting they’re?rushing out new features?to compete with the new kid on the block.
The kids aren’t alright. The world’s governments, including the?UK and Australia are lining up to ban social media for under 16s. LinkedIn, meanwhile, have come up with a novel reason for exemption: they’ve claimed they’re?too boring for kids.
Clean feed, clean mind: Looking to switch up what Instagram’s algorithm is serving you??Meta is testing a ‘reset’ feature?which will allow you to clear out suggestions, and unfollow accounts that you’re no longer interested in.
TikTok has gone big on live music over the past 18 months, and they’re dialling this further (and going one better than the competition) by integrating Apple Music as well as Spotify. The ‘Share to TikTok’ function will enable users to more easily recommend tracks and artists to others.
Did 2024 mark the beginning of the end for hashtags? They might still be going great guns on TikTok but after confirming they’re not as central to the algorithm as they once were,?Instagram is removing the option for brands to follow hashtags. #goodbye

WHAT STOPPED OUR SCROLL…
?A creative way to showcase content that’s more powerful in horizontal mode, Disney immediately grabbed our attention with this carousel of images that looked good in portrait, but MUCH better when rotated.
The Wiggles going viral wasn’t on our November bingo card but here we are! The Australian kids show gained a lot of attention for their VERY enthusiastic Tree of Wisdom this month. We guarantee you’ll be joining in before you know it!
A unique take on POV content, creator Alexandra Wren put a camera on her toddler on a recent holiday. Adding text descriptions along the way to create an engaging story, the results are unexpectedly funny and incredibly heartwarming, and has now become a wider series on her TikTok.
The most wholesome content of the month comes from national treasure, Olivia Coleman. Her response to finally receiving a Blue Peter badge is not only a reminder of why she’s so loved, but also highlights the power of reaction content.

WHAT IS THAT TREND?!
? All listening and no judgement here! A duo share their weirdest or funniest habits alongside the mantra ‘We listen, we do not judge’ - It's all about having a laugh and being relatable without getting side-eyed (although side-eyeing does ensue!
?The “I love your daughter” trend mashes two audios together where creators showcase something that might impress you. From genuinely brilliant talents to silly dances and self-deprecating responses, there’s many fun ways to incorporate this trend.
The ‘Camera Flip’ trend has people sharing opinions or giving advice, then flipping the camera to reveal themselves in a humorous (biased!) twist!
