New Google Core Algorithm Update
Google has announced a new ‘core update’ to its algorithms to reduce spam and low-quality results. This might affect search traffic volume for some websites.?
Rewarding Long-Form Content on TikTok
The Creator Rewards Program (previously called Creativity Program when in beta) now requires videos longer than 1 minute to be eligible for monetisation.?
The Rewards Program will calculate earnings based on an ‘optimised rewards formula’ focusing on originality, play duration, search value, and audience engagement.
Incentives for Creative Talent
TikTok has expanded its ‘subscription packages offering’ to all creators, as up until now it was only available for live creators.?
This is the latest effort from the platform to incentivise talent to keep posting on the app.
Data Portability API
To ensure that TikTok remains available for European users, they’ve implemented the capacity to switch off personalisation in the app and expanded data control tools.?

On top of that, they’ve launched a new Data Portability API, another way for users to download and reuse their TikTok data as they see fit.
Instagram’s New DM Updates
As a continued effort to improve messaging on the app, Instagram has launched some DM updates:?
Threads API Test
Threads has launched a live test of their API with selected partners, which will enable content scheduling in some third-party apps.?
Jesse Chen, engineer on Threads, said: “The API currently enables users to authenticate, publish threads, and fetch the content they posted through these tools – and soon, we will enable reply moderation and insights capabilities.”
