Social media and the great divide
Early AM rant: We are in incredibly fragile times. As I continue to "try" to share daily information to those that may need it, there will be times that some of this information could bruise the ego when you are wearing your "partisan hat". ?? I can confidently tell you that these posts are as non-partisan as can be and are not to ignite differences in those that do not like the messaging or for those that use the opportunity to pounce on others. Also, with the political posts and press conference briefings, they are taken from their original sources without my modifying and very little commenting.
Example: As the country is on the edge of their seats waiting for this relief and stimulus bill to be passed, as it was expected to be yesterday, CNN (an anti-Trump company) posted a headline "Democrats block coronavirus bill again." This was just an image of a headline from a website that does not favor this administration. Their perspective was important, considering all of the circumstances.
But, some people took the opportunity to get offended, take it personal and then spew hate and judgement throughout the page. The headline was a fact and I'm sure both parties saw a great opportunity to slide some non-relevant items into this ever so important bill. It's politics, it's who the people vote for. Is it wrong? Of course! It's incredibly awful, manipulating and dishonest for the American people. It is and always have been. Which is why the people need accurate information whenever possible and not hate and cowardly attacks on social media that incite more hate.
If you don't like things that politicians do, contact them directly. They are accessible, and someone from their office will get them your message.
In my experience, when 2 people argue, both are right. Based on their feelings and information obtained, they are right and any attempt to prove them wrong will create an opposing energy that naturally intensifies. On social media it seems that the gas for the fire is unlimited.
See, there are 2 very important points to convey here:
1. No one wins with irrational arguments, especially on here
2. No matter what anyone tells you, no matter how much you believe that you like a politician, they are not considering us in any way. Once they gain power, they are all out for advantages and catering to their bases.
In these times, we (the people) are the ones that are supposed to be more aligned, helping each other and offering solutions. Focusing and relying on politicians and political parties will always continue to divide and is counter-productive.
The information that I feel can help someone will still be posted and if people use it as a platform for hate and divide than they should expect to receive the same in return. No surprises. But, how can your energy be better spent? Educating vs arguing maybe? A quest to be right and making the other wrong will only spark outrage while getting nothing accomplished.
This is the normal like of an Independent.
