Turning LinkedIn Disagreements into Lead Gold: The Surprising Power of Negative Engagement

Turning LinkedIn Disagreements into Lead Gold: The Surprising Power of Negative Engagement

QUESTION

Ever wondered if disagreeing or leaving hateful comments on social media could be more than just a social faux pas??

ANSWER

I think of someone's LinkedIn page as their party. I would NEVER ever go to someone's party and contradict them or try and take over their party.

After living in NYC where everyone felt it was their job to tell everyone else why they're wrong, I leave it alone and save my attention and energy for things I am a fan of.

Always remember to say what you would be proud of your employer or business partner reading before they choose to work with you, and you should be safe.

EVERYONE WINS WITH ENGAGEMENT ON LINKEDIN

IF someone's post is specifically asking for your opinion with an open door to share what you think on a topic you have an opinion about, ABSOLUTELY join in. This is showing you and how you think to your audience and the audience of everyone engaging in the post. It's many times a great introduction and attraction magnet for potential connections who will love you.

Engaging is the very best thing you can do on LinkedIn and you get rewarded for it. Finding out how to do it daily, especially if it's on your own post is part of a WINNING STRATEGY.

THE PARADOX OF NEGATIVE COMMENTS ONLINE:

In marketing, when someone is turned off by you, that's your green light indicator that your messaging is dialed-in perfectly to your ideal client AND repelling people you don't want to work with.

While it's never good, and can easily devalue your brand if you are the hater leaving negative comments, it's awesome if you get an opinionated contrarian on your content. Love or hate him, Trump got trillions in free ad spend from haters engaging with his content. SO MUCH FREE ATTENTION!

If you're lucky enough to have your voice and messaging so dialed in you're generating negative comments, do your very best to appreciate and value the opportunity and let it roll off your back.

You're winning because your tribe will love you even more and be compelled to support you while the haters are bringing even more attention to you. FREE AD SPEND!

This is where the phrase “any press is good press” comes from. As long as you're not in the wrong for some bad behavior, the potential payoffs can be huge.

Now you can appreciate troll opposition comments on your content if you get them and be protected from giving someone free attention from their connections and yours without understanding the potential effect of the gift you're about to give.

Be well!??

In marketing the people who hate you are actually helping you and don’t even realize it. This spy agrees ~> https://youtu.be/CxhRMM6nZqU?si=uJBnt5CvYhlYYnCx

I had this happen last week. It really took the wind out of my sail. After much consideration, I responded with the tone, "It appears you are passionate about this issue. Perhaps you should x, y, or z to make some changes in this organization and it's policies." She was genuinely excited and encouraged by my response. Hopefully, it will help her to focus on a niche in her career search and help her land sooner. We never know when we can make a difference in someone's life. Looking at the heart of the person, rather than the chaos typically helps find a way.
