Social Media Do's and dont's for Recruiters

We, recruiters, represent the brand on social media, so it’s crucial for us to exercise caution while we do any activity. Remember we leave a digital footprint each time we log in on any platform.

Here are a few Social media etiquettes to follow ??

  • Having a polished profile, and a good professional headshot does wonders, helps in gaining the trust of your audience, let your audience know who you are, and what you are passionate about in the About section, list your employment details to help your audience know your body of work, have a headline in place to give the heads up on what you do!

  • Be mindful of grammatical mistakes, wordings, and sentences - since we all represent the brand it’s a huge put-off if there are silly errors in the posts.

  • Do not game the system ? liking, commenting, re sharing/reposting your own posts does not do any good. Remember the algorithm is smarter than us ??

  • Refrain from copying posts/content of fellow colleagues/influencers, bring your authentic self, and if need be use the repost option.

  • If sharing pictures/infographics/videos that you like, it’s a good practice to give the credit to the original creator to avoid any legal complications. Please note - there may be copyright obligations you never know.

  • Adapt contextual networking to attract quality talent which leads to building the passive pipeline.

  • Do not post irrelevant content, the content you chose to post should be tailor-made to aid you in attracting talent. Remember there is unfollow / mute option which would do more harm than any benefit. And Do not Spam, you may lose your followers.

  • Do not post any sensitive content or political content or confidential data regarding your organization. When in Doubt seek help or?avoid posting. Be mindful of legal obligations.

  • Do not get involved in any unnecessary provocative arguments leading to ill will, be gentle and have an empathetic approach in dealing with situations.

  • Refrain from tagging people in your posts without consent, it’s a best practice to seek pre-approval if you plan to tag.

  • Exercise professionalism in your activity, and remember each like, comment, share, and repost is your digital footprint on the World Wide Web!

So what are your Do's and Don’t's? feel free to share in the comments section. happy to read them!
