Struggling to decide where to spend your advertising budget? Our research found digital advertisers think social media platforms are your best bet.?
The global economy may still be in a tough spot, but advertising spend is up.?
In our NewtonX Prime survey of advertisers in 2024, 63% of respondents told us they increased their advertising budgets over last year. And, the bulk of that money is going into social media ads.?
73% of respondents said they're spending at least part of their advertising budgets on paid social. In comparison, email marketing and digital video — the second and third biggest recipients of advertising dollars — are part of the advertising mix for 57% and 40% of respondents respectively.?
Our research, which surveyed 751 digital advertisers in 11 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Australia, and Japan, is also clear on the reasons why social media is top of the heap. And, understandably, it's all down to results.?
34% of respondents think social media ads give the best return on investment, compared to 21% who think email marketing does, and 6% who think digital video does.?
The majority of respondents — 63% — also think social media ads give you the most bang for your buck, compared to 45% who think it's email marketing, and 29% who think it's digital video.?
