SOCIAL MEDIA IN 2020

Social media in the year of 2020 has got a whole new meaning. From just being a tool to share photos and life updates and finding old friends, now it's the only way left to us to communicate with the world.

Social media has become a virtual hangout place. The author of one of my favourite books “FAST, CHEAP AND VIRAL” by Mr Ashish Chopra, has very rightly mentioned in his book:

"This is how social media works. It’s the world’s biggest party and everyone is having conversations, sharing stories and is busy interacting with one another. To attract people without being too obvious about it, you could put up your own little tent and invite people to conversations; conversations where your company has some relevance. You create content which sparks those discussions, and then seed that content in other groups, hoping that people would come to your tent to continue those conversations. Your brand becomes the channel to start meaningful discussions around your area of business – about problems, issues and pain points of users – and a reminder that your company provides a solution for the issues discussed. The goal is to stay relevant in users’ lives. And that’s the goal for your content: to start conversations before you plan any campaigns. Your business must matter for your audience, for your users"

Being a content creator in social media for more than 21/2 years, I have witness a significant CHANGE, SHIFT AND EVOLUTION of social media in its importance, perception and adaptation in people’s life.

  • Mobile usage has surpassed desktop computers.
  • India almost tops the list of nations when it comes to using Internet on
  • mobile phones.
  • India has surpassed major countries in the world in social media users.

SOCIAL MEDIA IN 2020

If you look at the Impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on time spent using social networking applications across India from January to April 2020(in hours and minutes per week) that’s too has dramatically increased.

You cannot ignore social media now as it has become a validation tool of a person’s and even a business’s existence. Each and every major or minor but an adequately existing business are having social media handles.

It is very clear that Post-covid era of virtual world is going to expand, the social media world is going to go to a whole new level. More and more people will become users, more and more business pages will be opened even healthcare industry is not an exception. So now the question that arise is:

  1. Are you ready to make the best of this big opportunity to build your personal brand or a brand name on social media?
  2. Do you have the clarity about how will you navigate through this crowded place and build your identity ?
  3. Do you know which platform you are going to use, what kind of content you are going to create, how will you stand out and achieve meaningful goals?

These are some of the fundamental questions that you need to ask yourself, if you are serious about your presence on social media for yourself and your business.
