The term ‘social media’ can sometimes be a bit confusing. When we’re trying to understand it we’re getting too hung-up on the term ‘media’ and missing the social magic. We forget that the best social activities focus on interaction before extending reach but why would it be relevant to you as an entrepreneur in the first place?
Social media is the only practical way for you to converse and engage at scale but engagement is when your audience care, not just when they’re aware so how can you start making better use of social’s huge potential?
How about you start using social media to share contents that can build good public image, understanding and increase sales over time. We all know that Social media is all about listening and Social listening allows you to understand your audiences at scale so why don’t you spend your time listening? Even the most time-strapped entrepreneur can find 5 minutes to listen…why not you?!
To succeed in social media, you need to be social! Being sociable means you have to engage and engagement is about how you respond to your audiences. From my experience the easiest way to earn social media users’ attention is to offer them real value of the time they spend on your social pages. Make sure you add distinct value to your posts, adding value means your contents have to be better, easier, richer and more engaging. Identify some key themes and build on-going, select valuable content around them and use websites, blogs, videos, tweets, etc. to share different content around your pages.
Create small pieces of daily content to help build enduring engagement and you don’t need to be the one creating all the contents that you share there are thousands of agencies and freelancers out there to whom you can outsource your work and who would be happy to help you with that (they will get into your pocket though..lol) but it’s worthy to invest and as an entrepreneur you understand the benefits of outsourcing some tasks. Well if you think you can do it yourself then get into work, be creative for yourself!
The channels to use are your choice as it all depends on your business goals but remember it’s important to understand your audience’s behaviour, their most used social media and follow them.
