Social Listening Goes Both Ways

Want to know how much social media is "listening" to what we say and know an interesting "social listening" strategy story too? Check this out??

I'm analyzing a document on social listening as part of putting marketing strategies (this is like researching the market and brand product or service on social media to "listen" to what your target audience is talking about).

So I was thinking of a doughnut brand I had worked on before as an example. Thinking out loud, I literally said "what are people talking about? chocolate and flavors! Why? What's their need? They need quality chocolate and chocolate variety and they need a change in available flavors."

We resolved to "chocolate plenty" flavor, chocolate variety options, and launched a competition for people to suggest the flavors and actually created the flavor that won!

Next in the document, it advised to think of macro and micro influencers. So, I grabbed my phone, opened Instagram (who's been listening carefully) and the first thing in my news feed was Mohamed Tarek eating a variety of chocolate tarts and cupcakes; enjoying and literally saying out loud "chocalata". This is, of course, no coincidence ??
