Social engineering attacks contributes 33% of most major attacks globally...What to do

The human element often serves as the weakest link in organizational cyber security. According to a recent report by Verizon, 94% of malware was delivered by email, signifying the significant role human error plays in cyber attacks. This is further emphasized by the fact that 52% of breaches featured hacking, 33% included social attacks, and 28% involved malware. These statistics highlight the global prevalence of cyber attacks exploiting the human element. To mitigate these risks, organizations must prioritize cyber hygiene and promote a culture of cyber security. This includes regular employee training to recognize phishing attempts, secure password practices, and the importance of regular software updates. Furthermore, implementing multi-factor authentication and restricting user access can also help to minimize the risk of cyber attacks. By focusing on these areas, organizations can significantly reduce their vulnerability to cyber threats, thereby enhancing their overall security posture.
