Social Distancing, NOT on Linkedin!
By: Kevin Cojanu, CEO, Pole Star Experiential Learning
We are all facing real challenges in our lives as a result of Covid-19. Many are out of the office with our children who are home from school indefinitely. So despite the obvious, we have teachers and professors across k12 and colleges who are completing a mad dash to find methods of continuing the education of our children and our young adults.
During all of this, many businesses are still working hard to engage and promote their products or services.
With that said, I want to open the door with organizations that work in and share synergies in the world of Workforce Development, education, and corporate training and development. We can all stay at home and attempt to make regular business calls and get similar responses about Covid-19, and we are not doing anything at the moment.
We are seeing how our Earth is healing, and pollution is clearing due to lockdowns and staying home as a requirement for prevention. All of this offers the strangest of environments for all of us. However, it does not stifle creativity! In some ways, we can view this horrible pandemic as an opportunity to build opportunities.
For myself, I see the greatest opportunity to connect and communicate with people across cool fields, and I can make these connections on what we all do and possibly of forming new products and services working together. What we are missing is the opportunity of a lifetime!
If we can imagine the benefits of finding partners who offer products and services that increase the value of both Organizations.
So I am continuing the dream...
Imagine... since my organization is about building workforce skills and developing competencies that are missing in the workforce. This can be defined in providing the necessary experiences for K12, College, workforce, and corporate training and development when you can build skills and upskill the future of work. And considering our present environment, do it in a thriving virtual work environment.
So let me offer guidelines for Social Engagement during this Pandemic:
1. If someone is doing something exciting, reach out through LinkedIn and send them a message asking for the opportunity to talk.
2. (Receiver of Message) accept the opportunity and be willing to have that conversation.
3. (Both Parties) need to come together and share what they do and how each might bring Benefits to each other.
4. (Legal Notice) if you think you have opportunities, protect each other, and ask for an NDA. It’s about building a future that benefits everyone involved.
5. Document and have more conversations. Build, Build, and Build a partnership that works for both organizations.
6. Execute! If the opportunity has benefit, make it so!
7. ASK - seek recommendations from your new friends. Both parties need to recommend each other to other people who can gain from the connection.
8. If there is no real opportunity, you have made a friend, and that matters just as much!
At Pole Star Experiential Learning, I spend time talking with people and connecting organizations that could benefit from the relationship - it is essential to promote the success of everyone you engage!
It is essential that I close this rant with an essential statement:
