A social Balance
We are in a phase where everyone talks about Social Media Channels. Some talk of it as “Its amazing” and some look at it with scepticism and consider it a bane, which kills the real connect. Then there is some who actually drown in it and think it is the real thing.
I can say every role above is sexy to don and becoz it's in your own world, which all of us have when we gaze into those screens, which is guarded not only by plastic films but by passwords. A scary world that is, it gives you the wealth of knowledge and contacts and also can consume you as a rabbit hole.
It would be always good to have a balance. As they say! But what is a balance for me may be insane for you. So no magic potion of how to use the Social Media is one-fit-all.
What as of now works for me. Yes, I can say that only. It was a different story some months back. I hope to consider myself evolving and so also my social media skills. It is a difficult terrain lemme tell you, with newer things popping up every other day…. or is it every other minute!
Active on many … FB, Insta, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Youtube, Twitter is the list. Yes, it is huge bouquet and my schizophrenic nature helps to be in all of it …. or is it efficient multitasking skills?
My mantra is, as I need to be inspired by creatives and I need colours around, so where do I go for it? To my garden and Pinterest and Instagram. The pins and posts in them keep me inspired and fills my screens and mind with colours and triggers sometimes great ideas. Yes, I might have to spend hours on them to get a droplet of inspiration. So be it! All of them gives me the needed inputs for my photography pursuits and much-needed cues for my content generation for our initiative Teknospire
Now that I am inspired, I can move on to spread some magic which I gathered, which I think I do by posting on other channels. I have kept my personal contacts to Facebook, as logical as it can sound all my professional contacts to LinkedIn. Twitter to know the world. Facebook does now give good content for learning, have filtered out those contacts who pilfer their feed with their selfie albums, Sorry I cannot “fake like” it, neither appreciate photo posting all thru the day. Glad FB is efficient does have this filter feature. Feed has improved a lot, I do look forward to some reading there and connecting there now.
LinkedIn is also evolving … the groups there great to connect great professionals and “follow” feature does help you discover great content.
Twitter is a great way to follow their strength point hashtags. You are in a mood for a particular key you follow that there and get the most of it from there.
Youtube is it social interaction channel? Yet to figure that out, if it is so! I go there for great videos and subscribe them and most of the times forget them. Need a better way to get to those videos.
then there is Quora, Medium for reading pursuits.
