Saturday morning, 7:45 a.m ; my friend Sarah texts:
“Good morning, totally spontaneous decision to head to Iron Mountan Hot Springs this morning. Katherine and Ginger are coming. Want join?”
Especially when your three best friends are randomly all available at the last minute on a Saturday morning - forget that whole take the day off from skiing to catch up on work thing…this was a no-brainer (and much needed)!
Do something random today!
2. Spoil Yourself with Rejuvenation
If I told you how much I paid to go soak in some bougie hot springs for three hours, you’d probably faint, but man! I am feeling good today! It’s a good thing, too; I’m off to a full-day women’s ski clinic!
Soaking in the mineral-rich water of natural hot springs is proven to restore and repair an ailing body. While you may not live in a town that is literally called Glenwood Springs or otherwise have access to this natural phenomenon, you can reap similar benefits by hitting up a local spa, getting a massage, or hitting up the hot tub.?
Go pamper yourself today!
3. Ride Your Bike in the Cold
Iron Mountain Hot Springs happen to be a 6-minute bike ride from my house, so I broke out the beach cruiser (complete with basket) and got myself there thanks to my own two legs. It was a warm (by our standards) and sunny 42-degree day; people were out and about all over the bike path, sidewalks, and in town.?
This is the first place I’ve ever lived where I’m right in the middle of the action and can walk or bike to anything; I love it - and that feel of being the obvious townie in a sea of tourists, ha!
Get out and explore your neighborhood today.
4. Plan a Weekend Away
The four of us made some lofty goals to have a ski day together in March, take a girl's trip to Moan in April, and maybe even head to LA for a show in June. If the latter happens, I’ll be surprised, but it reminded me of how important it is to spend time with the people you love, and that might just include a weekend away with some friends!?
Get out your calendar and plan a trip today!
5. Spread Your Love
As I get older, I’ve started realizing that friends fall into categories, and rarely will you have a friend who overlaps with everything you do in life. For instance, I have “do life together” friends like these, CrossFit friends who kick my butt at the gym, old friends from the way back machine, and business friends who share in my entrepreneurial journey.?

I’ve decided this is ok; friends who fill specific voids are needed, and you should find them!
Mingle with a group of friends you haven't seen in a while!
6. Opt for a Call Instead of a Text
Speaking of friends from all walks of life - one of my coaches besties texted me on Friday afternoon at the perfect time, right as I was getting in the car to head home from a ski day.?
“Are you around.”
I could have texted back the typical, “Yeah, what’s up…”
You know what I did instead?
I called her.
And it was exactly the chat we both needed.?
Voices are cool!
Call a friend or family member you usually text with today.
7. Have a Parking Lot Picnic
Sarah thought of it all yesterday and had a Yeti cooler packed full of bubbly waters, cheese and crackers, and enough snacks to get you through a tailgate party.?
The four of us, being the hearty mountain girls that we are, set up shop in the middle of the parking lot and had our own little feast.
It was impromptu, it was ridiculous, and it was awesome!
Do something similar today!
Here’s to a great week!
Your Friend and Coach,?
Angie
