So you want to start your own modeling agency

To start your modeling agency you need to have knowledge about how this industry work. If you come in not knowing it going to be a lot harder for you.

First step is getting your company registered. The only tools you need are a computer, the internet and the telephone. Clients and parents prefer when you have a land line it shows stability.

You see one of the most important thing in this business is networking.

If you go into it not knowing anything about the industry, you could be starting off for a very long time trying to gain those contacts and network and that obviously takes a lot of time before you're actually up and running. Its usually the case where models open up their own agency after they have finished modeling. A good thing because obviously, they know a lot about the industry and they know certain people yes, businessmen can start agencies too, you just have to be a great marketer and know how to get the contacts.

One of way to get the contacts is to basically call, call as many people as possible. It's quite time consuming but obviously it pays off in the end. Spend hours looking up online all the different clients that I think would suit my models,

Its very hard getting the name of the person who is in charge of hiring the models, but after a while you get the knock of tings and as you develop reputation in the industry it becomes much easier You will find these clients calling you too. t Marketing is very important in the modeling agency world, otherwise how would people know you exist.

You should try and attend events and functions that these people attend take along some of your models and just profile and network. You can also put on free events. Always try to have the media cover your event.

Your aim is to let all the possible clients know you exist and know of your standards.

Decide early weather you want a fashion agency or a commercial agency,. As a modeling agent, you make your money based on commission. How you get this commission is that, based on the fee that you charge the client. You retain a percentage for yourself base on your agreement with your models.
