So you want to be a COACH? Here's MY advice to YOU!

There’s a lot of talk about coaching nowadays. I believe many of us are attracted to coaching as we go through our own transformations and we want to help others.

So coaching is about helping people, and it's great that so many people want to dedicate themselves to this profession!

SO YOU WANT TO BE A COACH? HERE I AM SHARING FIVE TIPS, BASED ON MY OWN EXPERIENCE:

1. Understand what “Coaching” is

Coaching as an industry is relatively young and it’s not regulated in the way that other related fields like psychotherapy are.

Coaching gives you wide choices like Life Coaching, Career Coaching, Business Coaching, Executive Coaching, Leadership Coaching, etc.

I won’t get into all the differences between coaching and therapy, or coaching and consulting, and other fields, but my point is: before you go further in your desire to be a Coach, make sure you understand what that entails!

2. Know your “why”

Do you care about helping people and, if so, how do you want to help them with?

Will this be one of the numbers of roles in a portfolio career, or do you want it to be your only source of income?

How do you want to see yourself as a coach?

Understanding why you’re coming into this, and what you’re working towards, will guide you in making the right decisions for you as well as keeping you motivated, especially in the tough times

3. Develop the relevant skill set

The first question you have to ask yourself is whether coaching as a profession fits your natural preferences and personality strengths.

Are you naturally curious, are you enjoying solving problems, are you good with people, are you listening when people talk? Some of these skills can be developed, but it helps if you already have that natural tendency.

The next focus is on training or qualification. I believe that a good training program is important in equipping you with the confidence to really support your clients and the strategies and resources you need to be effective. As well as ensure that you are aware of the ethics you’re setting yourself and your clients up for success.

4. Get a coach

The best way to understand and learn about coaching and the coach is to work with different coaches.

In working with different coaches, you will get a great experience of their different styles and ways of working, you’ll identify what you like and don’t like, and you’ll experience the benefits and see the results that you can achieve in your own life.

5. Start Coaching!

Let people know that you’re trained to be a coach and that you’d like to offer free or paid sessions to people who are looking for support in whatever area you’re thinking of specializing in.

you will ultimately be measured on the results you get for your clients so focus on serving them as best you can and you will be on the right track to succeeding in your new coaching job.

Coaching is an incredibly powerful approach and can be an incredibly fulfilling job.

Now that I have shared with you a few tips, I am sure you are curious to see yourself as a Coach and how coaching works for you!

I hope this helps you – I’d love to receive feedback on this article, so go ahead and comment below !!
