And so yesterday was not so yesterday

Yesterday it was Palindrome day.

The last day there was Palindrome day was just a merely only 909 years ago.

I’ll be honest. Until yesterday I didn’t have a clue what Palindrome is. Never heard of it.

Palindrome is something that is the same whether read forward or backward. Or left to right.

And that is very interesting to me. Here is the story.

I love mathematics. I studied quantitative economics (that’s the kind of economics that looks eternally at a lot of numbers and all that sort of stuff).

And also ... I'm dyslexic when it comes to reading numbers. Especially long series of numbers like telephone or bank account numbers are difficult for me to read.

These things just float in front of my eyes moving forward and backward. And left to right and right to left. Usually I ask my kids to read numbers out aloud so can I write them down in a way the floating stops. And I can actually read it.

So, welcome to my new friend the Palindrome!

Think yesterday, at 2 seconds at 2 hours in the morning and at 20 minutes. And that on the second day of February in the new roaring 20s.

All this can be written in digits just like that as: 02:02:20 and 02/02/20

And apparently yesterday was also the 33rd day of the year with 333 more days to go till the next year

Also yesterday was:

USA: 02022020 (MM-DD-YYYY)

EU: 02022020 (DD-MM-YYYY)

ISO: 20200202 (YYYY- DD-MM)

Last time there was a Palindrome day of this sort was 1111111 (*), which was the eleventh of November of the year 1111 written in the EU convention. I readily admit I didn’t really bother to check to write this date in the USA convention. After all, America was not yet discovered at that time. After all, it’s all the same.

The next time there will be a Palindrome day it will be just merely only a 101 years as from yesterday. That day will be 12122121.

And the next one after that day will be the day. That day will be on a March 30th ... in the year 3030.
