So what is living in Dubai actually like?
Having relocated to Dubai myself, I often get asked similar questions from recruiters who are considering the move, so as I am coming up to my 2nd year of living in Dubai and experiencing a booming recruitment market over here, I thought it was only right that I highlight for anyone who is considering a move to Dubai what really stands out to me and why I love living here.
?
?? Wake up to a blue, cloudless sky everyday – I really don’t take this for granted as this definitely helps start everyday in a positive mood. Opening your curtains to a blue sky with the sun shinning really does increase the dopamine levels and puts a smile on your face, compare this to the grey, wet mornings in London and it’s no wonder morning commuters on the underground have a look on their face like it’s their last day on Earth.
?? Great location for travel to places like Bali, Maldives, Thailand – 4 hours and you are in the Maldives, 6 hours and you are in Thailand, you can even get a flight from Dubai in the morning and arrive in London on the same day just after lunchtime, so many countries are accessible.
??? You have a mix of both City life and beach life – From the bustling city areas of DIFC or Downtown Dubai within 25 minutes you can be sunbathing on Kite Beach or JBR. Everywhere is literally a short cab journey away.
?
?? The rules – Despite what the British media report back home, the rules in Dubai really are not as strict as you may think. Being a Muslim country, showing respect publicly with social behaviors or sexual conduct is important to adhere to, but you will not have to change how you dress when you move here as the dress code in Dubai is now very relaxed.
?? The City is a melting pot of nationalities and cultures – With 5 billon people within an 8 hour flight, Dubai attracts people from all over the world and whether it’s Eid, Easter or Christmas, cultural holidays are equally celebrated which is great to experience.
?
?? Clean, safe City – There are no cigarette butts or chewing gum strewn on the floor, people come here and are respectful and many woman who move here say that it’s the safest place they have ever been and one of the many reasons why they moved to Dubai.
?
?? Public transport is very reasonable – If anything is cheap in Dubai it’s public transport, £1.10p gets you all day train travel and a 30 minute taxi journey cost £17 which makes exploring the City very pocket friendly.
?
?? There is so much to do and places to see and everything is accessible – Whether it’s a concert with Coldplay, 50 Cent or Black Coffee, festivals such as Elrow or Wireless, sports events like the Formula 1, Golf DP World Tour or the Dubai duty free tennis event, every week is filled with something to see or do.

?
?? Every weekend feels like you are on holiday – whether you are relaxing at the beach, enjoying a staycation at a hotel or are at a pool or boat party, you really do get a holiday vibe every weekend.
?
?? Weekend Brunches – If 4 hours of unlimited eating and drinking is how you want to start your weekend, many of the high end restaurant such as Zuma, Nobu and Coya all do very reasonable weekend brunch packages with food and yes all drinks included all for a reasonable price of between £80-£120.
?
?? You meet like-minded people – Most people who relocate to Dubai have a similar mindset and are successful or focused on success, plus everyone has something in common, we have all relocated to Dubai. So connecting with people and making friends is easy in the City.
?? Growing economy - With a target to double the economy in the next decade to $8.7 trillion, Dubai is the hub for trade and commerce in the Middle East. This also creates a huge amount of job opportunities which is great for recruiters.
?
?? Basic salaries are higher - On average, salaries in recruitment are £10-15k more than in the UK, plus they are tax free!
?
?? Great commission - Commission structures are very competitive in Dubai with many agencies also offering quarterly bonuses just for hitting target. Again this is tax free!
?
?? The recruitment market – Markets such as energy, sales and marketing are all very busy in the UAE, however as Dubai is a place of innovation, with first class IT infrastructure and huge investment in to AI and robotics, the technology market is booming, as a result Technology recruiters with 360 experience always tend to excel when moving to Dubai.
If you are considering relocating to Dubai and there is something I have not covered on here or you have some questions, I'm always keen to speak to good recruiters so would be happy to arrange a call, just drop me a message.
