The false teachers had infiltrated the early church were saying to become a Christian you first must become a Jew by being circumcised and having traditional Jewish ceremonies.
Paul delivers a powerful argument to explain the truth of the one true gospel.
“Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. Therefore, recognize that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham,?saying, “All the nations will be blessed in you.” So then, those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer,” (Galatians 3:6–9 NASB).
Look at the father of the Jewish race. Was he saved in the way you are saying or was he saved by justification by faith?
Abraham was old and without child. God showed him stars in the sky by the thousands. Then God said to him, “so shall your descendants be.”
It was an improbable promise, but Abraham believed because God said it was so. This faith was accounted to him for righteousness. From that moment, Abraham was righteous in God’s sight.
This occurred not because Abraham did great works to deserve it. Not because he was circumcised or participated in ceremonies. The father of the Jewish race was justified by faith.
The true children of Abraham have a faith like his faith. Being merely a descendant is not enough. Faith is required otherwise God’s promise to Abraham was meaningless.
Are you a believer like Abraham? Take comfort that no matter what nation you come from or how much money you have or your gender you can qualify as a believer. God’s blessing for eternal salvation is waiting for you.So
