From the moment you step through the door, be alert to your surroundings. What’s the vibe in the reception area? Is the receptionist warm and welcoming, or does the place feel like a dentist’s office? Watch the people walking by—are they rushing, or do they seem happy, stressed, or impatient?

While you're waiting, ask to use the bathroom. Sometimes, you’ll get a mini-tour of the office layout on the way. Take a look around—are the bathrooms clean and tidy, or filled with passive-aggressive hygiene signs? You’d be surprised how much you can learn from the little things!

Stay Sharp in the Interview

Of course, you need to focus on the interview questions, but keep an eye out for those subtle cues. How do you feel during the interview? Are you comfortable or on edge? Is your interviewer on time and welcoming, or do they seem distracted and rushed? Have they even read your CV, or are they just winging it?

Questions Reveal More Than Answers

Pay attention to the questions you’re asked—they can reveal a lot about the company culture! Are they trying to see how you handle stress, excessive admin work, or challenging personalities? Consider the tone of the questions too. Are they conversational, or do you feel like you’re in a police interrogation? Can you imagine yourself reporting to this person?

Ultimately, go with your gut. How do you feel about the company as a whole? Do you feel comfortable and aligned with their vibe? Can you relate to your interviewer? Trust your instincts—they’ll guide you right.
