Rattle Me Bones Race
Founded over 20 years ago, Rattle Me Bones has raised over $1M dollars for research in bone and soft tissue cancers. The most common type of primary bone/soft tissue cancer is sarcoma. There are many different types of sarcoma and they can all act quite differently. This means that we know very little about the best types of treatments for this particular type of cancer. There has been very little research dedicated to this rare form of cancer to date. That is why Rattle Me Bones is so important. 100% of the funds raised go towards bone/soft tissue cancer research. This research is done right here in Ottawa at the CHEO Research Institute and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.
Join us on Sunday, September 29 for the 2019 Rattle Me Bones Run at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum or on Saturday, October 5 for the 2019 Zombie Run at Proulx Farm. Help us beat bone/soft tissue cancer one step at a time! We look forward to seeing you there!
Spirit of Children by Spirit Halloween
As you begin planning your Halloween costume this year, be sure to drop by any of the Spirit Halloween locations in Eastern Ontario (there are two in Ottawa --- one on Merivale and one on Innes, as well as one in Cornwall and one in Kingston), since all Spirit Halloween stores will be hosting their annual fundraising campaign throughout the Halloween season.
Every year since it was founded in 2006, the Spirit of Children campaign helps make hospitals less scary for kids and their families by providing fun and funding during Halloween to Child Life Departments within children's hospitals. Additionally, each year Spirit Halloween sponsors and hosts Halloween celebrations in children's hospitals throughout the US and Canada with the help of their vendor partners. Members of the Spirit field team bring everything that's needed in order to help the children have the best party possible, from costumes to goody bags.
It's a remarkable event that touches thousands of paediatric patients and brings countless smiles and laughter to children who might otherwise miss out on the joy of Halloween!
Have a wonderful, event-filled September everyone, and thank you for being a #Hero4CHEO --- this month, and throughout the year!
