So much can happen in 25 minutes

My first formal coaching education was based on #counselling approach. I have been adding multiple practices over time and have been creating a unique #coaching approach over the past few years. My #clients invariably appreciate and cherish the coaching experience as we come to a close of the session.

Over time, I have transformed from a two hour per session conversation to one hour sessions and directionally increased effectiveness and impact in parallel. In my latest journey towards credentialing as a #PCC and #ACTC , I am positively and enthusiastically challenged to meet the client where they are, gather an appreciation of their current context, motivation, strengths and beliefs , while the client crystallise goals, develop action plans and establish sustainable progress and accountability. All these things in a short time.

I would never have believed that all the above is possible to be done in around 20 minutes. But, I experienced this first hand to complete all the above in 25 minutes in a coaching session yesterday. Thanks to the client who had done their work and arrived with a raised awareness. By the time we finished the conversation, the time elapsed was 25 minutes and the client had generated many insights , break throughs and aha moments to reflect on along with clear action steps and accountability mechanism.

I am not saying in any manner that 25 minutes is the norm. The fact is, it depends on the context , situation, self awareness of the client. But this is a great datapoint that really made me feel like a Roger Banister moment yesterday. Made me think that there is a reason why #icf accepts a minimum of 20 minutes recording as a valid submission.

So, can effectiveness and efficiency co-exist? Absolutely
