So Many Activities!

So Many Activities!

Week four is in the books at?M&T Bank and Seneca One Tower and things are starting to become more familiar. I'm getting better with names and faces, and I'm starting to dive into the next levels of conversations and the complexity of the role...but I'm still drinking from the fire hose, I still have a lot of people to meet, and I have a lot of work to do.

This week's post is all about activities. We're starting to dive in and get around town more. As you should probably expect by now, I got out for some bicycling, connecting with the Campus Cycling Collective (again) for their last Wednesday night ride of the summer, pictured above. Since I'm always brand-loyal to places I've worked, I was very happy to see them serving Modelo after the ride. The ride itself was terrific! We rode along the Niagara River, under the southern Grand Island Bridge, along Tonawanda Creek and Ellicott Creek, a long ride on Parker Boulevard, and through a ton of neighborhoods in Northern Buffalo that landed us by the beautiful mansions around Delaware Park. We finished the ride racing raindrops through the park and the neighborhoods back to the?Campus WheelWorks?bike shop on Niagara Street. It was a great ride. I highly recommend riding with Campus Cycling Collective when they restart their summer rides next year.

On Thursday, my wife and I had the opportunity to attend a retirement party for a good friend at Joseph's Country Manor & Grove in Depew, NY. We met in college at UB, and we've been good friends for over 35 years. He's earned it! Now, don't get any ideas about me...I ?? what I do, and I'm going to keep doing it forever! He and his wife plan to do a lot of traveling. I suggested to them that they should start by helping us move... ??

On the home front, we're one week closer to our closing date for the sale of our current house and the purchase of our home in the Buffalo region. Things are less hectic than a couple weeks ago, but we are finding we spend about an hour a day chasing down documentation for bankers, aligning lawyers, and providing what I like to call "verification of whatever needs verifying." I'm glad we kept all our documentation over the years (decades!) like our home's site survey, though we apparently don't need any of it. For moving, we're closer to figuring out what we want to move, and I'm crying a lot because throwing bags of cash?????? at moving vans looks like the best option...at least I won't have a sore back!

Interestingly, I stumbled on the video below. I have to share it...It's very well done. The video got us to thinking more about...what else? Activities! What will we be doing for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years? What about other activities? The Ellicottville Fall Festival occurs right around our move date! And speaking of Ellicottville, we need to make sure our skis are unpacked and ready!!! If you think I talk a lot about biking and pizza, wait until ski season starts... ??

How's that for an amazing promo video?

So... What are your favorite things to do around town and in the Buffalo area? Where do you recommend for skiing? What festivals? Breweries and pubs? Places to hang out or check out or eat? Go ahead and put them in the comments below...my wife and I are building a "to do" list for our fist six months.

That's all for now. We'll see what's exciting and new next week!
