So Long, 2024: A Double Entendre

As we prepare to close the book on 2024, it feels fitting to reflect on a year that tested our resolve, pushed our boundaries, and ultimately reshaped who Werremeyer Creative – aka WE – is as an agency. It has been a whirlwind – a year of reinvention, perseverance, and growth that we won’t soon forget.

At the start of the year, we adopted the EOS Worldwide (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework, using it to define our values and establish a clear vision for the next three years. This disciplined approach, built on years of refinement and experience, provided us with the confidence that our path forward would be guided by shared insights and aligned with our entire team.

Early in the first quarter we adopted two new service lines – strategy and innovation. Adding these consulting services meant being able to engage both existing and prospective clients with new offerings that not only enabled WE to have a broader and deeper positive impact on their businesses, but also substantively enhanced the overall impression of our agency.

Spring ushered in significant change – our client roster experienced a near-complete transformation. Long-standing partnerships shifted or came to a natural end, and we welcomed an entirely new mix of clients. While it was bittersweet to say goodbye to brands we’d worked with for years, the opportunity to start fresh invigorated our team. This reshuffling forced us to get scrappy, dig deep, and prove ourselves all over again. We learned to listen harder, think faster, and create smarter. By midyear, it was clear: WE wasn’t the same agency we had been just months prior. We were evolving, and the work we were doing reflected that transformation.

The larger world, too, was shifting in ways that couldn’t be ignored. Economic uncertainty loomed, new technologies like generative AI (sorry, no search-friendly-@ for you) upended some traditional processes, and cultural conversations continued to shape how brands connect with audiences. In our estimation, even though up to now AI has created as much noise as traction, only fools could ignore the coming tide change. This is why we continuously found ways to integrate generative AI tools and partners into our workflows and clients’ businesses, using them to nuance our solutions to be even smarter while retaining the humanity critical for meaningful communication.

One of the most defining moments of 2024 came in the fall. After months of hard work, we launched a comprehensive rebranding for one of our new clients, a project that tested every facet of our freshly expanded capabilities. From strategy to design to execution, it was a full-team effort, and the results spoke for themselves. The campaign not only exceeded the client’s expectations but also reaffirmed why we do what we do. It was a reminder that insight-based creativity, when paired with collaboration and grit, will still move the proverbial needle in meaningful ways.

As the year winds down, we find ourselves cautiously optimistic. After months of change and uncertainty, we are stepping into 2025 with a renewed sense of stability. Our new services have been embraced, our client relationships are founded in the future, and the WE team has proven our resilience time and time again. Perhaps most importantly, we’re heading into the new year with a clearer vision of who we are and where we want to go.

2024 was a year of reinvention. It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t always pretty, but it was worth it. As we close this chapter and look toward the future, we’re reminded of the power of perseverance and the importance of staying true to our values. Here’s to a bright and promising 2025 – one WE hopes will be filled with more stability, untold creativity, and countless moments that remind us why we love what we do...most of the time.
