Modelling is one of the process in the animation pipeline when you want to develop an idea or concept from start to finish. It is not only a process, it is a career path in the animation industry that revolves around asset creation.
Modeling is creating.
In fact, modeling is that part of the animation industry where I see men exhibit the characteristics of a creator like God the creator.
It is one of the initial process in the production phase of the pipeline where you replicate or recreate an imaginative or real life object in the 3d world and you have the chance to make it realistic or stylized.
Modelling is the process of creating the 3D representation of imaginative or real life object... Simple and short.
Because of technology, you will find this process being carried out in a computer software.
According to future learn, a 3D model is made up of vertices which comes together to form a mesh and act as the core of the 3d model.
Individuals that create models either hard surface or
organic regardless of the technique used to achieve it are knowns as 3D modelers.
It's important to ensure you always start modelling with a primitive or basic shape that depicts what you are trying to model. Most times, it starts with a cube.
Several industries across the world utilize 3D modeling for a vast range of things. According to future learn, with 3D modeling the opportunities are endless. You will find 3D modeling in game development, 3D printing, architecture, animation, product design, Feature films and so on.
Due to the potential in 3d modeling, we have an equally wide range of software available, each of them comes in handy and are specific to various purposes with different price range.
Blender is an open software that is forever free and has a user- friendly interface. If you are a beginner, blender is definitely a good choice to start off with. There are other software such as Autodesk Maya, AutoCAD, Zbrush and a lot of others that you can explore.
There are a range of techniques that can be applied while creating a 3D model ranging from box modelling, polygon modelling, Sculpting etc. and there are even recommendations on which of them are best applied to specific industries where models are needed.

Personally, modeling is an aspect of the animation pipeline that I just started to intentionally explore majorly because it requires a lot of patience, consistent practice and you have to be ready to sit down for hours in a specific place....lol.
But so far, it has been good and currently I am working on some projects. I will share them with you when I am done.
Above is an architectural design of a kitchen that I worked on in April.
lf you have questions on it or you will love to drop a comment on it, please feel free to do that.
The most exciting part of 3d modeling is that there are various sites available online where you can upload the models you create for sale -CG trader, Turbosquid, Sketchfab, so you can literally make money off any model you develop.
How has your experience with modelling been?
Feel free to share in the comments section, I will love to hear from you and you can also drop your thoughts on modeling.
