So, lets keep the names aside and see what is there to learn from the rare event.........

Names strictly aside, the conversation on the dismissal in a unique fashion of being timed out has few learnings to offer:

1.?????? A broken strap !? - the key here is ‘Preparation’ – as the stage becomes more stake-worthy and with lots of support staff around to assist at the highest level of the stage, these issues should not be happening at the middle of the pitch. We all have read inspiring materials of how some players prepare to the atom level to ensure everything from their clothing to kit is in best shape at each stage. This event is World Cup, the ultimate glory and there is no end to preparation from each support staff.

?2.?????? Applying Common Sense or On the feet thinking! ?– Instead of losing time to get a new helmet, the player should have relied on his deep experience - that it is a spinner in operation, and he can see thru the ball with a broken strap and get a new helmet during the over break. Haven’t players played with broken fingers and even broken chin in tougher conditions. So, there arises many times such situations which demand ‘ on the feet’ thinking or adjustments.

?3.?????? Invoking Fair Play for victim-hood – the rules of the games are agreed for both sides, so the question of doubt on fair play does not arise. Fair play should not be raised for victimhood as step 1 was grossly missed out.

?4.?????? Wasting the mind-energy on blaming instead of learning – Post match conference was all about blame-game on the opposition. Which obviously means that all thru the match, "the mind" was not in its best shape but awaiting blame. Instead, if the mistake was accepted, there could have been a game to win. Blame loses sight of the opportunity in hand.

??5.?????? Choose the representative properly in key moments – the Captain should have either come by himself or chosen a calmer representative who could have handled the post-match conference better. An opportunity for better communication lost because the mind was busy to fix the blame !
