5 x Minutes Read for you and your Business

“So, I’ve become the subject of gossip.”

Hey friend,

Picture the scene.

I’m on my daily walk to the post office for a mid morning treat.

As I cross the road I spot a woman at the bus stop, grining and waving at me.

She’s in dark glasses, with dark blow-dried hair, and cooing like a pigeon.?

“Here he is!” she exclaims.

As I get closer, I realise it’s (let’s call her) Janice, my neighbour from three doors down.?

She coos:

“Here he is, the new vicar!”

(Which I’m not - I’m a part-time trainee priest but let’s not split blow-dried hairs)

“Morning!” I reply, trying to carry on walking.

Janice then waves to two other ladies, a duo of mirthful hens let’s call them. ?

Said hens turn to me beaming.?

“I was just telling you about him, wasn’t I?” Janice coos.

The ladies reply but not really in words, more a blend between a chuckle and a cluck.

“Oooooh” they cluckle.

“Do you know what? He’s a lovely man, and he’s always wanted to be a priest, hasn’t he?” Janice continues.

“Yes, yes, I have,” I reply, slowing my pace a bit.

“You’re always so friendly, happy to chat” says Janice.

Janice clearly has never seen me pre-coffee.?

I’ve come to a complete stop now.

“And the funniest thing?” coos Janice.

“Every single day, he comes to the Post Office for his egg custard!”

One of the hens leans forward, places a hand on my arm, and clucks:

“Bet you can’t put that on the offering plate!”

Oh how we laughed.? Cue a ripple of laughter, squinty eyes and slapped thighs across the group.

I make a remark about priestly pastry then head off on my way.

What does this coo and two clucks have to do with you, you might ask?

Well, I think that little moments like these remind us how important it is to inject fun and community into our day to day.

In life, like business, we can focus so much on:

??our goals;

??our inbox;

??the list of tasks;

??or the bank balance ;

….that we forget to savour the stuff that makes it all worthwhile.

??Meaning.

??Meeting cool people.

??Making a little bit of a difference.

One of my core values is enthusiasm.? In fact it’s what my name means.

I genuinely believe there is always a way to make business more enjoyable.

It doesn’t have to be beige.

People working with people they love, to solve problems that matter.

That’s the core of what business is.

And there is plenty to be enthusiastic about, in that.

Changing lives, really helping, making money.

So why do we tell ourselves it has to constantly feel like hard work?

Equally why do we tell ourselves that we have go the road alone?

Do you want to be in this for the long run?

Ace.?

Open your self up to community.

Open your self up to people who make the journey lighter, easier and with way more LOLs.

On that here are two opportunities for you to do just that:

If you'd like deets for either of the above slide on in to the DMS

Is life better when shared with good people doing great things?

It clucking well is, my friend.

3 x Thoughts from the Three Ps of Business, for Good: PURPOSE, PEOPLE, PROFITS

This is the formula I follow to help clients launch and grow a business with God at the centre

  • ???? - You find your self in serving a PERSON and a PROBLEM.? It’s that simple.
  • ???? -?Who makes you laugh consistently?? Go message them.? It’s good medicine.
  • ??-? There is always more money out there.? You just need to solve the right problems.
