So... I'm doing English classes now.
So before I assault you with the big ad, just a quick update...
I'm STILL broke. Ten months and counting? Sheesh.. I thought two agencies were plenty, I was wrong! One of them, it didn't work out, the other hasn't given me any work. I spoke to a friend, he suggested English conversational classes, and... yeah. So here I am. I've reinvented myself yet again this year in my attempt to make income and be happy ??
If you know anybody who could benefit, don't be a stranger. Show them this and I should be able to help out ??

Non-native English and need to improve? Look no further ????♂?
There are a multitude of little things that non-native speakers can say by accident. Words and phrases that instantly identify you as a “no” due to your level of English.
Suuure, you can get help from Grammarly or the almighty ChatGPT. But what happens when you first have the first zoom meeting with your new team, or you have a live interview?
An employer spends like 6 seconds on average before moving on to the next person. Even small mistakes are an instant disqualification for many, and every native speaker knows it ????♂?
When people are hiring, they’re looking for signs that you’re NOT the real deal. They only need to ask you a few questions, and they’ll quickly know. I ain’t just talking about the quality of your English in a grammatical sense now, but I mean a manager talking to you and knowing that you’ll be a good CULTURAL fit on their team or in their company.
Here’s the good news: it may be the case that they don’t know much about your cultural background… but if you know theirs on a deep level, that’s enough.
Let’s just be clear on this: it doesn’t matter where you’re from or what culture you were raised in, you can totally crack it in the USA, UK or anywhere else.
Buuut, as fantastic as it would be, let’s not pretend it’s an equal playing field yet ?? however I believe that a few nice habits will give you a solid chance.
Speaking great English is going to get you way further than the competition by default, but it’s more than that.
I’m talking about cultural nuance man.
If you’re outside of the western world and want to break in I’d say that you’ve really, really got to try to understand the nuances of the culture you’re aiming for. The sooner you get that, the better. It’s probably the ultimate soft skill.

What’s the solution Steve? ??
I’m offering conversational and cultural English classes for copywriters and other professionals. I’ve got experience as an English teacher, so I’ve done this kinda thing plenty of times before.?
We can jump on a call to have a conversation and I’ll correct your spoken English. I’ll help you break some of those habits that will instantly disqualify you. No more big blunders ??
Could you do this without me? Yep…

You could try those random chat apps to find an English speaker, but the quality varies wildly. Duolingo is great, but you’ll only get the words, not the cultural context. Plus, nothing is personalised.?
Next, and here’s the big one… as a full-time traveller I’ve seen what makes people from different cultures click quickly. If you’re not comfortable with the language and the culture, how well can you really do a job based there??
It doesn’t matter so much if they just want a deliverable and nothing else, but if you want to build a network, form relationships and connections, be part of a team or get a big retainer with a company, I’d say that an understanding of the culture isn’t a huge bonus, but a necessity.?
So if you’ve got gaps in your cultural knowledge or simply need to start regularly speaking English with a native teacher, I’m your dude.?
Right now, it’s a flat rate of $25 for a one hour session, and discounts for 10+ sessions paid for.
Here’s what I’m offering:?
?? Conversational English. We’ll chat and I’ll correct any errors in speech and pronunciation, and go over tricky words or definitions.
?? Refreshers. Talks with people that don’t have access to native speakers but want to stay sharp.
?? Mock interviews for people that have an upcoming job and need to practise ASAP.
?? Reading through your stuff live to see how it sounds to a native speaker.
I haven’t got a business page or anything set up for this yet, I just wanted to test the waters, see who would potentially be interested ??

Why I’m doing this
I’ve fallen out of love with copywriting on a pretty big scale, but I’d still love to use my marketing and writing skills and experience to help others get a good start.
Over the three years I’ve been orbiting the marketing world I haven’t seen a single other writer offering this service. So until someone else steps forward I’m happy to call myself the best choice there is ???
I think some people need a hand to bridge the cultural gap to finally make it. I think I could be that bridge, as a dude from two wildly different cultures. I’m Mauritian and British (raised in the UK), and I believe this is the sweetest thing I can offer ya.

I'm only one guy though and as my capacity is so limited, I’d recommend you get in touch sooner rather than later. After the first few people become regulars, I’ll have to make a waiting list.?
If you’re reading this right now, the offer is still up. Get in touch via comment or DM, and let’s break down a few of the cultural barriers that are keeping you in limbo.
P.S. If you know someone who could benefit, let them know about this ??
