So I hardly get the problem of “we don’t hire Nigerians”

Maybe it’s my niche I guess

The most I’ve gotten is someone trying to talk down on the reputation of hardworking Nigerians

One of the first things I make clear on the first conversation is that I’m from Africa and from Nigeria.

Just so that you don’t go further and disappoint me.

I take all other rejections lightly but the one about being from Nigeria, it’s not something I control and I don’t regret being from the country.

So instead of coming to tell me later you can’t hire from Africa or Nigeria, after commending my work, I make sure to tell you where I’m from on the first conversation

Don’t reach out to me if you know you won’t hire Nigerians.

I try to mention that I’m Nigerian a lot in my content, so before someone sends me a DM they know where I’m from.

I’ve had a client years ago, try to talk down as well, and the reason he didn’t was because he tried sending money to my dorm account and it was flagged, and he had to clear it up before he made payment

So he went into why it happened.

Tbh I didn’t blame him, I just explained that the media loves to ride on the few bad news.

Meanwhile we have a ton of hardworking Nigerians in the tech space, and he later agreed with me on that.
