So glad I stayed a Canon user and fan!

I help businesses evidence the positive impact of their D,E,I, Accessibility & CSR work on people and community, to help shift perspectives whilst promoting the company culture & core values. I live with severe Tinnitus.
I aprticularly love photographing dogs out dorrs because dogs have so much more fun out doors and can really show off their character.
I am always looking at ways to improve what I do and to get better and more engaging shots, I just love shoys of dogs running straight towards the camera. I have been a Canon EMEA user for many years and was one who resisted the urge to jump ship to Sony when they launched their mirrorless range a few years ago and I am very happy I did because of the new Canon EOS R5 and the RF range of lenses, the R5 has animal eye detection that is really fast and accurate.
Today I had the opportunity to try the Canon 100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM RF Lens with the EOS R5 outdoors and with dogs running straight at the camera.
An hour and a half is not long at all to test new kit but is enough to give you a taste of the potential and it delivered on that front in spades.
Prior to today I have tested the R5 with the RF 70-200 f2.8 IS USM in low light and that was impressive, today was even more so.
One of my needs with ourdoor photography of dogs is facal length. My EF 70-200 f2.8 has a working range of 8m and I wanted something that would start shooting at a greater distance so I can get more choidce of shots for my clients but there is nothing in the EF range that really gave that.
My experience today was very interesting and very powerful as I was able to zoom in, start shooting and keep shooting as I zoomed out whilst the animal eye AF get focus on the dogs eye.
Game changer! I wider range of shots, ease of either maintaining or changing composition as you shoot and a higher success rate of shots in sharp focus.
So good that I would not even consider an RF 70-200 f2.8 IS USM for outdoor dog photography because the 100-500 offers so much more versatility and so much more flexibility which relegates the RF 70-200 f2.8 IS USm to the studio or close up porttraits, the RF 100-500 F4.5-7.1 IS USM is my go to lens for outdoor dog photography
My thanks to @Richard Harvey from Canon for his help and support. More use and testing to follow which I am so looking forward to!
