Has Google finally cracked it?
All these years they were trailing …
This was a little surprising for the very fact that they have huge success in their other line of businesses, the same is not replicated here.
But I guess finally they are catching up.
Yes, I am talking about their Cloud Business.
If COVID has helped some businesses, Cloud will be definitely one of them.
According to Satya Nadella, Two years of Digital Transformation journey for many companies were achieved in two months because of COVID-19 and cloud helped them expediting the same.
At the forefront of this transformation Cloud, Collaboration and Remote WorkPlace solutions have played a vital role.
As per IDC beginning of COVID -19 cloud spending growth was moderate.
However, as per the Technology Market Analyst firm, Canalys Cloud spending in Q3 grew 33% worldwide.
We all have heard how ZOOM is really zooming, how their market valuation has gone through the roof. Similarly Microsoft Teams, Google Meet all saw unprecedented growth in the last couple of months.
Google claimed that it had an impressive 44.8% growth in Q3 compared to Microsoft’s 31% and Amazon’s 29%.
However, the absolute revenue for Google’s Cloud Business is still much smaller compared to the other two leaders- Microsoft 15.2 Bn $ and AWS 11.6 Bn$ ( Q3 )
And there is Salesforce in the 3rd slot with Q3 Revenue of 4.5 Bn which was a little higher than the initial estimate of 4.46 Bn.
Cloud revenue for Amazon and Google constitutes a small percentage of the overall revenue. Their other businesses are significantly large.
AWS Cloud constitutes 12% of the total group’s revenue, while for Google, the same is around 8%.
There is even speculation that Amazon may spin off the Cloud business through an IPO and raise 200 Bn and put back to its e-Commerce business.
To Microsoft and Salesforce, Cloud is the mainstream business and that will be Central to their strategy.
This space is really hotting up and there are so many players trying hard to claim their share of the pie.
Some big guys like Oracle, SAP are still trying to figure out and catch up.
Will Google be able to keep up the growth momentum?
Cloud is mainstream now and growing.
Everybody is eyeing for their pie.
But finally who will be able to lead the pack in the long run?
What is your take?

4 年Always good to hear from you. I believe in future it would be Multi cloud approach with No Vendor Lock-in and no dependencies. --choose them only for what they are good at, 1-2 or more..depends. This inturn will increase and mature the platforms to manage multi- hybrid cloud.. thanks..
