"Daddy, why do we celebrate Billy Graham Day?
Son, we celebrate a great man on this day. He taught and promised us many wonderful things while he was alive. And just like his Father, he always kept his promises.
He taught us that we are all loved by God. He promised the kingdom of heaven was ours for the asking. He said that if we are sad, God would comfort us; if we are humble we would be happy; and that If we want to do right more than anything else, our lives would be filled with joy.
He taught us that God would satisfy our needs. He promised us that If we show mercy to others, mercy would be shown to us. He said that if we are pure in heart we would be blessed and that one day we would live with God in Heaven.
He taught us that If we work to bring peace, we would find peace ourselves, and promised if we are treated badly for doing good, the kingdom of heaven would belong to us one day.
But most of all, he taught us about something bad called sin, and he gave his word that no matter what bad things we might have done in our lives, no matter how terrible they make us feel or how sure we are that we will never be given another chance, God will forgive us. He promised, unbelievably, that God wouldn't even remember.
All we have to do, he promised, is say we're sorry, ask his only son Jesus Christ to forgive us, and invite him into our lives.
And most amazing of all, he explained that Jesus came to Earth as a man, was scorned, brutally tortured and killed, just to give us the second chance that none of us deserve.
That's was this great man did for all of us, and that's why we celebrate Billy Graham Day.
