“SO EASILY FOOLED”
It just makes my head spin when I think of how people can be so easily fooled. I know much of it comes from the fact, I believe, that most of us want to think the best of people. It is getting to the point where it seems there are far more scammers than honest people. It is a sad commentary on humanity when you look at how some people ruthlessly prey on others’ good nature.

The media plays its role in if fooling people. It used to be you had three television networks to choose from. They all reported the news, generally without a slant. ?Sometimes, they might offer commentary, however, it was made known that it was commentary. Today, you have a choice of many news outlets on television, so you can find the one you agree with! The problem with this is that the news they report may not be the whole truth. The political leanings of the outlet outweigh what the truth may be.
?
It is not just news outlets that try to fool us, influential people do it as well. Many times, the obvious facts fly in the face of what is being said. From a political standpoint, the party that is offering the report will say how great everything they have done is while blaming the other party for the things they cannot spin. The worst part is people accept it. I have seen many people complain about the current congressmen, yet they are voted back into office!

All of this to say, that none of that is as near as important as being fooled about the Bible. The Bible is the only path to Jesus, and no one gets to God without going through Jesus (John 14:6). The Bible is quite clear on how to obtain eternal life, yet there are some who want to distort the truth because they don’t like what the Bible says. Peter says that this leads to their own destruction (II Peter 3:16).

This is nothing new. Paul was admonishing the Galatians for being led astray by another “gospel.” The letter to the Galatians was written no later than 24 years after the establishment of the church, and probably closer to 15 years, so it didn’t take long for people to be fooled.

People often get fooled because someone is saying what they want to hear. Sometimes, people are just mesmerized by a charismatic speaker who sprinkles lies with truth. When listeners haven’t taken the time to educate themselves, these half-truths sound logical and correct. This why it is important to be like the Bereans, 11?Now [the Bereans] were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so (Acts 17:11).

Don’t be easily fooled, especially in biblical matters. It could cost you your soul!
