He stands and stares

He's as cold as ice

Black stones as eyes and a bright orange carrot for his nose

His heart is warm although he's froze

He's happy to be here

Bespoke charm - for this time of year

Adorned with hat, scarf and gloves

Twinkling in his eyes

Part of the wintery scene

A child's pleasant dream

Festive too

Robins best friend - when he's passing through 

The magic of midnight and he springs to life

Sparkles and stardust all around

Careful not to make a sound

Exploring the land surrounding him

Grateful for the opportunity 

A child's living vision - plain to see

He listens to the owls midnight song

The haunting melody drifting on the wind

The moons rays shining down

Snow flakes fall like diamond feathers in flight

The beauty of this winters night

Time is precious he takes everything in

The pine trees dusted with white

Foxes hunting a desperate plight

Lights going out in the houses around

Sleeping families abound

Time to return to his special place

The garden by the old pine tree

Standing tall for all to see

Looking forward to the day

To see the children and watch them play

Enjoying each moment as if it's his last

Accepting what will come to pass

Knowing today was a welcome surprise 

Living in the present

A gift stored safely away

In his heart these memories will stay

Until the end of time - truly sublime 

He bids goodnight to the moon

And greets the morning sun rise

An extra twinkle in his eyes xx
