Above the tree line on mountainous terrain

The snow leopard appears again

Hissing, chuffing, mews and growls

Echoes heard from miles around

Most active at Dawn and Dusk

Attracting a feline date a must

Rubbing their muzzles and marking their rocks

Alerting others to their stops and territories 

Keepers of secrets and mysteries 

Well camouflaged amongst the trees and snow

Using their scent to show the way

Carnivores actively hunting their prey

Horses, Hares and Camels too

Regulars on this cats menu

The odd bird they will also take

Killing animals 4 times their weight

Often hunting with their mate 

Consuming vegetation including grass and twigs

Savouring the nutrients the earth gives

Loving their rocky, broken land

Travelling through snow - 33 inches deep

With relative ease -they creep and leap

Preferring to ambush their prey

A fatal bite to the neck they make

Sealing the victims fate 

Rewarded with their fresh kill

Demonstrating skill and indomitable will

A clear mission on the right track

Focused never looking back

The Snow Leopard majestic, wild and free
