Snow day
Housecall Providers
Thirty years of providing the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
Snow in April? Strange but true! And for many people in the region, the snow brought some forgotten winter fun. However, for many members of our community it meant that important scheduled services such as food or grocery delivery were canceled.
As part of our National Volunteer Month series, we would like to spread the word that there are many fabulous organizations that serve our community. Housecall Providers provides in-home primary care as well as hospice services to community members who are homebound, seriously ill, or receiving end of life care. But these friends, neighbors, and family members often need more services than just primary medical care.
If you looking for ways to serve our vulnerable neighbors, please take time to consider volunteering with services that are in particular need during times impacted by severe weather such as Store to Door ( @storetodoorPDX ) and Meals on Wheels ( @MealsonWheels ). Both of these organizations rely on volunteers to help deliver groceries and meals to members of our community who have difficulty getting to grocery stores and preparing meals on their own. While it seems unlikely that we will get another winter surprise before next fall at least, the community members served by these organizations still need your support. If you are looking for ways to serve, the need for volunteers has never been greater.
