The Snow Day Boxing Match

The Snow Day Boxing Match

The snow fell softly outside, blanketing the world in a pristine white. Inside, it was a different kind of storm brewing. My teenage son, Likhith, a budding boxer, had been tasked with entertaining his 7-year-old sister, Vaishu, while I enjoyed a much-needed afternoon nap.

Likhith, bless his heart, only knew one way to play: boxing!. Vaishu, however, was no ordinary toddler. She wasn't about to let her big brother boss her around. She grabbed her favorite toy, a fierce Wonder Woman figurine, and mirrored his moves.

Suddenly, things got a little too real. Likhith, carried away by the game, accidentally landed a heavy blow on her jaw. The room fell silent. Likhith' s eyes widened in horror. He had hurt his little sister!

But Vaishu, ever the brave one, surprised them all. "That was a good punch, brother!" she declared, holding up her hand for a high five. "Wonder Woman is strong! This jaw is the strongest bone in the face. You saved my eyes!"

Likhith, still shaken, realized that his accidental punch hadn't hurt his sister as much as he feared. He quickly switched gears, praising her strength and agility. "You're a real fighter, Vaishu! You're stronger than any boxer I know!"

Vaishu, beaming, launched back into the game, her movements a mesmerizing blend of boxing and dance. Watching them, I realized something profound. Our brains, even at a young age, can turn the unexpected into something wonderful. Remember line from John Milton's "Paradise Lost," which reads: "The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven".

Just like Likhith and Vaishnavi, we all face challenges in life. Sometimes, things don't go as planned. We might stumble, we might even get knocked down. But just like her, we can find the strength within ourselves to rise above. We all are just part of this amazing game called Life, trying to get to next level at every phase to win the game. We all are part of something larger and just need to see it.

So, the next time you face a difficult situation, remember and her boxing match. Remember that even in the midst of chaos, there's always a chance to find joy, to learn, and to become stronger !
