A Snow-Covered World, Puzzles, Bad News, Good News, A Simmering of Pain and Heartbreak

I woke up, grabbed my coffee, sat down, the fireplace is dancing, and throwing out some much-needed heat. I looked outside to see we had received about a foot of snow last night. I then checked my phone and saw a text from my neighbor “8-14” next 24 – then another potential storm on Tues or Wednesday”.

It is amazingly beautiful up here, it’s peaceful, quiet, the wind is singing songs, but the rest of the world is silent. The sun will be up in about an hour; she will show the snow did not take any prisoners yesterday; everything is buried.

We did something we have not done since joining forces all those years ago; we did a puzzle. Well, our kid and we did a puzzle, and in true form, we did not finish the puzzle; we got about 1/3’rd done, puzzles are rarely done in one day, and as I write these words our kitchen table is covered with puzzle pieces.

I would recommend you get out an old puzzle if you have not puzzled lately. It seemed we were using a different part of our brain; it was like playing a musical instrument, new spots of our brains were being fired to find the colors and shapes and match them together.

We also cooked, the kid made tacos for lunch, and we splurged and had pasta last night. We won’t eat these next two days; we are doing our 2-day cleanse, no food, just liquid, and some cleansing solution that tastes like ass. Since the alcohol is out of our system, we thought it wise to do a full-body cleanse. I’ll be a little hangry the next couple of days, don’t mind me.

It’s 6:00 a.m., the world is sleeping, I’m awake, penning a few thoughts, soon the world will awake, and I’ll join the rest of the human race moving our world forward, navigating the gauntlet of life. But for now, it’s just me, my little keyboard and screen making a historical record of the world as I see it.

My Queen is stirring; soon she will walk downstairs, say “good morning lover” and top off my coffee, it’s our routine, it happens every day no matter which home we wake, the play always follows the same script.

We’ve got some appointments later today; we will work from home, giving our neighbor some time to plow us out, I don’t think we could get out of our driveway, there are worse things than getting stuck in a home on the top of a mountain with the one you love.

I’m struggling to give anything of value this morning; maybe it’s the weekend’s lack of activity, or I’m still using my puzzle brain, I fear I won’t be giving you too much protein to feed on today. I’ll leave it to you to look inside, pull some thoughts and ideas from your body and mind; I’ll just be here offering crumbs to help ease your hunger.

I just checked the news, it seems we killed some bad guy, Tiger won something, people booed the President at the world series and wildfires are wrecking California. That’s the news in 4 lines, let me see if I can pick up some headlines that didn’t make the front page.

Many healthy babies were born to parents that will adore and love them for the next few decades. A connection of love was started with millions of people all over the globe, and somehow different cultures coexisted and blended together to create new and exciting ideas and traditions.

With every negative, there is a positive, and with every positive there is a negative. It is up to you to pick the stories or ideas you focus. For every death, there is a birth, and for every crime there is a good deed. Never forget the pain that exists in the world, it’s there, it will never leave, but choose to focus on the positive, the loving nature of humans, and the idea that the best is yet to come.

Happy Monday, enjoy it, treat it as a day of celebration of life, liberty, and happiness. If you are sad, I’m sorry, I don’t know your plight, but assure you that better days are ahead. Just give your pain time to simmer and burn off and wait for the joy to fill your heart and mind. It’s there, joy and happiness are always there, but sometimes we need to wait for the sadness and pain to take the bus to the next city, leaving room in our heart for the positive to take its place.
