The Snom D8xx series is our most modern phone series, in which we have combined all our visions for the future. In addition to the particularly noble design, with elements of brushed metal in "Gunmetal" look, the continuously tiltable display is the feature of this series. It combines the advantages of the many predecessor series and expands them with a variety of new, sophisticated functions and technologies.

Important
- If the phone is not new and has been connected to another PBX system, you have to reset it first. See how to do this here.
- If it’s an old phone, you might have to upgrade its firmware to a newer version. See how to do this here. Note:?If you are planning to install a router phone, read the section below regarding the firmware requirements.
- Note: If you don't want to use RPS, you have to enter the provisioning URL into the phone via its web interface. The phone will be configured automatically and then restart. Use the DHCP option 66?if you have a large number of identical legacy phones (as the URL is different for each phone).
Choosing between popular snom D8 models
- D865 (router phone):?The Snom D865 is an excellent choice for businesses looking for a versatile and high-quality desk phone solution. Equipped with WiFi, Bluetooth, 2 USB ports, and 10 programmable function keys, it offers a solution for most everyday office tasks. The device features a high-quality, adjustable 5" LCD screen and delivers excellent voice quality with advanced noise reduction and hearing aid compatibility. Costs in the region of $215.
- D862 (router phone): The Snom D862 is an entry-level device that combines advanced technology, excellent voice quality, and an attractive design in one device. It features a high-quality, 40° adjustable 5" LCD screen and 8 programmable function keys that are ideal for storing speed dials and other functions. Costs in the region of $180.
- Router Phone - A Router Phone or an SBC is required to bundle all SIP traffic over a single TCP port and direct the signalling to the IP Phones. At least one Router Phone is required if your 3CX System is in the cloud or it's a remote phone connected to an on premise system.
Step 1: Identify your exact Snom D8 phone model and MAC address
Be sure you follow the steps for the right phone model. You can find the model and the MAC address on the label at the back of the phone or by pressing the settings button and navigating to “Page Information > System Info”. The snom MAC address always starts with 000413 followed by a series of numbers and/or letters. Take a note of the MAC address, you will need this for the configuration.
Step 2: Login to the Admin Console
- Login to your 3CX Web Client and go to “Admin”.
- Select the “User” for which you want to add a phone and go to the “IP Phone” tab.
- Click “Configure a phone”.
Step 3: Configure your Snom D862 and D865 IP phone
You need to know if 3CX is in the cloud or not. If you have 3CX hosted by 3CX or you have 3CX FREE or 3CX SMB, then your 3CX is in the cloud.
3CX is in the cloud
- If this is the first phone in your network, make it a router phone. If you have others choose whether to make this a router phone or specify the router phone or SBC for this phone.
- Choose your snom D 8 series model from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the phone’s MAC address without dashes or colons, and click “Add phone”.
- Connect the phone to the network within 14 days.
- If it is already connected, restart it.
- The phone will be configured automatically.
3CX is on premise
- Select where your phone will be located.
- Outside the office (Remote)
- In the office (Local)
- Choose your snom D8 model from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the phone’s MAC address without dashes or colons, and click “Add phone”.
- If you selected “Outside the office” , configure it as a router phone.
- Connect the phone to the network within 14 days. If it is already connected, restart it.
- The phone will be configured automatically.
