Don't let rejection and dejection show on your face; patience and perseverance pays off!
In September 1992, after completing my graduation, I began the job hunt. I was in dire need of it. I will share some other day the reason for this. ?? With no internet back then, I relied on scanning newspapers daily for job openings and attending interviews as advertised. I applied to various companies, including a prominent multinational electronic typewriter company, a well-known automobile company, a kitchen utensils company and so on. The last interview I gave was at a large food multinational corporation which was certainly on top of my wish list. Despite facing multiple rejections and enduring long waits at manpower consultants' offices, I remained determined to work only for a reputable organization. Although I faced numerous setbacks and even turned down a few offers due to personal preferences, I maintained a positive attitude and persevered. Daily hunt in the long list of advertisements in the newspaper, catching the overloaded DTC bus to reach for interview on time was a painstaking job.
Anyways, after three months of relentless effort, my patience finally paid off on December 7th, when the postman delivered two offer letters. One was from a major automobile company, which later formed a joint venture with a Japanese multinational corporation, and the other was from the esteemed food multinational corporation, Nestlé. I chose the latter and spent over two decades there. My perseverance during those challenging months resulted in one of my greatest assets—working for a professional, well structured and the most system driven humane organization, Nestle.
