Snippet: COVID-19

Concern: It is spreading wildly all over the world and no vaccine to prevent COVID-19 till date.

Relief: COVID-19 is transmissible but not as life-threatening as other virus spread diseases.

Call To Action: It is high-time for all of us to be well-aware of the current situation, practice preventive measures, disseminate accurate information to fight against COVID-19 globally and most importantly avoid panic, stigma, and rumors.

Cause: COVID-19 is found to be transmitted:

     (i) directly through respiratory droplets (via coughs or sneezes) of an infected person

OR

     (ii) indirectly through any surface or substance contaminated by the infected person.

Precautions: It is essential to prioritize good hygiene habits to avoid being exposed to COVID-19.

• Maintain personal hygiene by washing your hands thoroughly and more frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Do not share personal belongings, utensils etc.
• Keep your surrounding clean by disinfecting the objects in regular use by all. Sanitize whole house specially bathrooms regularly.
• Avoid crowded places and close contact with people who are sick. Wear face-mask, especially in public places.

If you are feeling respiratory sickness (such as cough, sneezing, running nose, and sore throat), mild headache, fever and difficulty in breathing then:

• Do not hide your health status. It may or may not be COVID-19 but disclosing it would not only help you but the whole society at large.
• Stay at home and isolate from other family members. Use separate bathroom/toilet, if possible.
• Seek medical advice and inform local health authority to facilitate you further.
• Cover your cough/sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and soon after wash/sanitize your hands properly.
• Always use face-mask specially when close to another person.
