In categorizing cookies, distinguishing them by parties is a very common method.

Using this method, cookies are differentiated by how they were created and by the server from which they are put on the visitor’s browser, so who they belong to. Both cookie types have similar technical characteristics, though being different in origin and usage. ??

·???????? First-Party Cookies: Includes information like sign-in details, online shopping cart items, and website settings like language preference. Such cookies enable the website owners to collect data for analytics, remember visitor settings, and provide functions to boost visitor browsing experience. Although first-party cookies track visitor actions on the original site where the cookie was attached, and then feed the statistics to the website host, these cookies are unable to track visitor activities on other websites. These type of cookies are stored directly on the website visited.

·???????? Third-Party Cookies: It will include something like a support chat functionality enabled by a third-party service, social media platforms. Unlike the first-party cookie, this one will track a visitor between websites, which will also assist the display of more fitting adverts between different websites a visitor uses. These types of cookies are stored on a domain different from the original one a visitor used and got the cookies attached; they are set by that different website not the one originally/ currently used by the visitor.

Categorizing cookies by party is generally the biggest distinction for cookies.
