SND News & Events: People 2019 -- Frieze Week 2020
Dear ones! It's barely Mardi Gras and already so much has happened! My novel came out, and the reception has been amazing, we are so grateful for the support and we are keeping the good times rolling; further book & photography event news below. Since last we mailchimped, I also wrote a few exhibition essays, show reviews, features, and newspaper stories, and found time to do more talking, because there's always talking!
At the L.A. WEEKLY, we wrapped up 2019 with our People of the Year special. We are all really proud of the range and fantastic Angeleno creativity celebrated across the issue...
At ARTILLERY, I covered Anish Kapoor's silvery sliver of mercurial wall at Regen Projects, and the affecting group show Soft Schindler at the MAK Center. For ART & CAKE, I appreciated the prevalence of early works in the Hammer's landmark Lari Pittman survey.
I had the pleasure of not only writing the essay but editing the full exhibition catalog for the Japanese American National Museum's current exhibition from Taiji Terasaki: TRANSCENDIENTS (on view in Little Tokyo through March 29)...
