Hello it's January! And as ever, a new year brings a new trove of fancy fresh print and digital media, and below you'll find an accounting of my latest contributions to LA arts and letters. KCET's ARTBOUND launched a special mid-January series keyed to the inauguration and the #J20 protests that were beginning to unfold... In anticipation of the stormy political climate, a dozen writers were asked to weigh in on what they saw as the art and culture community's response and responsibilities. I was asked to ponder the role of Arts Journalism in the Trump Era, and I ended up thinking about empathy, analysis, storytelling, and the renewed urgency of championing humanism...
