Snare strikes in Bandhavgarh
Tigers4Ever
Giving wild tigers a wild future Conservation charity based in the UK, working in Bandhavgarh, India
This beautiful wild tiger is Chota Bheem - king of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. Last week, he was caught in a snare. Miraculously, he managed to escape, with the cruel wire still remaining around his neck. It took five days for the Forest Department to locate and capture him, so, thankfully, he is now being treated and we expect a full recovery.
Bandhavgarh has one of the highest densities of wild tigers in the world. But they need protection. Our anti-poaching patrollers are skilled, trained, brave men and women who work tirelessly to monitor wild tigers, dismantle snares and stop poachers in their tracks. Their presence not only deters illegal activities but also provides critical data on tiger movements and health, which inform our broader conservation strategies.
Today, 3rd December, is Giving Tuesday.
Every donation made before midnight helps Tigers4Ever to access a share of £750,000 from GlobalGiving . The more you donate, today, the greater the proportion we receive. Monthly direct debits count too.
We are urgently raising funds so our committed tiger protectors can continue and enhance their patrols, heading deep into the forest so that Chota Bheem, his cubs and other wild tigers in Bandhavgarh can be kept safe and spared the snares.
