Snapshots from Washington DC - Meet Omar!
Sloane Stephens Foundation
Every child deserves the opportunity to have tennis change their life.
Welcome to the first drop of the SSF LinkedIn newsletter! We're excited to pilot this feature and connect with our LinkedIn community in a longer format. If you are also a subscriber to our email distro, some of these updates may be familiar to you, but we'll also do our best to provide LinkedIn-exclusive content from time to time.
To start off this series, we're highlighting Love, Love Compton student-athlete Omar T. 9-year old Omar traveled to Washington DC last weekend to participate in the USTA Foundation's Excellence Team Camp. He also got to visit with Sloane Stephens and check out pro tour life at the 花旗 Open.
SSF has a Development Team within the (USTA) United States Tennis Association Foundation's Excellence Program. Excellence Program participants are National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) youth chosen based on their elite level of tennis ability, educational outcomes and commitment to the pathway to become student-athletes at the collegiate and professional levels. The Excellence Program?ensures the best coaching and resources are available to those kids with the most desire, athletic potential and financial need.
Not only did Omar have fun, compete, and meet youth from across the country, but he represented the Sloane Stephens Foundation with integrity. Omar received the camp's Sportsmanship Award from Jean Desdunes. This is why we do what we do!?
Omar has been a part of our Love, Love Compton program since he was 5 years old. His older brother, Josepth, is one of our incredible coaches and chaperoned Omar on his trip.?

2 年Thank you Sloane Stephens for your positive impact in our Latino community. With your commitment our kids can aspire to one day play tennis in college and beyond! Currently there are less than 1,000 (6%) NCAA tennis roster spots filled by US Latinos. #tnnskids #micanchaessucancha #latinosplaytennis Vamooooos Omar!
